It very important to reference work that is not your own, as this gives credit to the person who researched and wrote the work you’re using, although this is important it is also very hard and annoying to get used to.
In third level education this is expected of all students but as a first year student I found the Harvard System Style of Reference very hard to understand and this combined with trying to settle down into a new college, writing assignments and the constant studying can be very stressful for new students, so learning how to reference wasn’t my main priority at first. As submission dates for assignments arrived this attitude caused me a lot of stress as I then had to reread all my assignments and reference them before submission. This link has every type of Harvard system reference from a book to a video and although it is hard at first to understand it got easier as I progressed with my assignments. To avoid the stress and frustration of last minute referencing I decide to start up a separate page for referencing this allowed me to quickly add links and dates and when I finished my assignment made it easier to fill in the rest of the details that the Harvard System requires.
My next tackle was to learn how to apply the Harvard System Reference in-text thislink I found very helpful in aiding me to understand how to in-text reference it also highlights were I went wrong while trying to in-text reference.
